Re-buy

A re-buy is an option in some poker tournaments that allows a player to buy more chips after losing chips (or busting), during a specific early phase of the tournament called the re-buy period.

Re-buy tournaments are common in online poker and are usually faster and more aggressive than standard tournaments.

Key rules of a re-buy tournament

1-Only available during a limited time (example: first 60 minutes).

2-You can usually re-buy if:

  • you bust out, or
  • your stack falls below a certain amount.

3-After the re-buy period ends, no more re-buys are allowed.

Why are re-buys so popular? Players often take more risks early because they know they can re-buy and continue playing.
