Lead

A player who wins a round of betting by making a bet or raise that no other player calls is said to have won the pot with the advantage or lead for the start of the next round. This word is also a verb, to bet first into the pot.

Understanding Lead

Understanding when to lead is an important part of each player’s strategic way of playing poker. When to lead the flop is one of the more common and basic strategic questions.

Leading out has shown strength in a way and puts pressure on your opponents; this can also expose you to raises from players who have stronger hands.

Example of  Lead

For example, this would mean that you are the first person to bet if you are playing an online Texas Hold’em hand and the flop comes out.
